A CIRCLE OF WOMEN
Written and Directed by
Hafiz Farid and Yaasmyn Fula

Circle of Women is a docu-series that highlights the extraordinary women in the life of the Iconic young artist Tupac Amaru Shakur.
The five primary women who played an integral role in Tupac’s growth and development are as follows:
AFENI SHAKUR, CAROL CROOKS, YAASMYN FULA, JADA PINKETT LEI and LEILA STEINBERG
These are the amazing women that protected and preserved the first-born male of the revolutionary Black Panther Afeni Shakur. These bold, courageous Circle of Women nursed, nurtured, shaped and raised him to become the dynamic young warrior/artist that the world would come to know as Tupac Shakur. His life was in danger from the moment that he was conceived in his Mother’s womb. Both his mother and father were well known Black Panthers who were targeted and hunted down in a sinister government conspiracy known as CO-INTELPRO, which was designed to infiltrate and destroy any Black organization working to uplift and empower Black people in the U.S. To truly understand the heart and soul of this incredible artist one must delve deeply into the wombs that bore him. These women were his first nurses, teachers and vigilant protectors. They knew better than anyone that his life lay in a fragile balance and they were determined to snatch death from his throat. Tupac once proclaimed, “I wasn’t supposed to make it but I did…tribulations of a ghetto kid, Still I rise.” This Circle of Women is where he rose from.
